What we do: the club books seats and arranges coach transport for members and guests to attend plays and concerts, starting from Kingsbridge in Devon. The planned events are listed in programmes issued about four times a year. The venues are mainly in Plymouth, Torbay and Exeter but we occasionally travel much further afield. See more at About Us.

NEWSLETTER 2, February 2017  (posted 21 February 2017)

Dear SHTCC Member/s,

Go to the About Us page for information on the forthcoming AGM

Thank you to all those who have renewed their annual subscriptions. Those who have yet to pay their 2017 subs. will have received a reminder in with this mailing.

This newsletter gives notice that the Annual General Meeting of the South Hams Theatre & Concert Club will take place at 10.15 for 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday 22nd March 2017 at the Crabshell Inn, Kingsbridge. Coffee or tea will be available.

To help liven things up the we have organised some entertainment: Brenda Loosemore, who is of the local amateur stage and has played great comedy parts including Lady Bracknell and Madame Acarti, will give a talk entitled ‘Ladies of Laughter’ who include Pam Ayres, Joyce Grenfell, Victoria Wood and others. Please do come along. The formal part of the meeting beforehand usually goes quickly and any discussion following is of interest to all club members and can be continued over coffee. So please come down this year – the entertainment will be fun. It is anticipated that the meeting will be over by 12.30 and some members may choose to have lunch in the pub. Telephone the Crabshell Inn on 01548 852345 to book a table.

The Agenda for the meeting is in the Management section of the About Us page and, if you are unable to attend the meeting and still wish to vote, a proxy form is available there. The minutes of last year’s AGM and the accounts for 2016 can also be viewed there and you can download any of these documents. Copies will also be available at the AGM or if you would like copies before the meeting phone me on 01548 852916 or better still e-mail me (nick@shtcc.uk) and I will get them to you.

As specified in the Club's Constitution, all three present officers of the club will stand down at the AGM. Gill White and Lorraine Buckley are also proposed as officers for this year.. As always, we welcome 'new blood' on the committee. If any member would like to join the committee (the role need not be defined) please send in your nomination to the Secretary (Jenny Arnold) by the 1st March. Similarly, if there is any business which you would like moved at the meeting please inform Jenny (email jennyarnold368@gmail.com) by that same date.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible then.

Tally Ho! Holidays have organised a trip to Bristol to see ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’. The dates are 23/24 June and the price is £169 per person sharing. A discount of £10 p.p. is available to SHTCC members. There are very few single rooms available.

Call Tally Ho! Holidays on 01548 854067 for further information and to book. Remember to tell them you’re SHTCC members to get the £10 per person discounts. The club is not handling this event – merely promoting it.

Best wishes,

Nick Alen

Chairman
